Is the aluminium-handled Laguiole knife a recent invention? That’s what a rumor in the eighties implied. In order to create a buzz, some misinformed and probably audience-deprived media channels came up with the idea that the launch of an aluminium-handled Laguiole knife was an unprecedented event, the innovation of the century.

As a rather well-known man today would say : let us deal with « fake news » and re-establish the truth about the aluminium-handled Laguiole. A patent was filed, for brand and design, on July 29th 1910, and it is extremely precise : it is for a knife made under the « Modern Laguiole » name, with full or hollow handle, plain or faceted. So it was not a novelty in the 80’s. It is never too late to correct a mistake ! ;)
