    More about Amourette Wood

Amourette wood, also known as "snakewood," originates from French Guiana. This exceptionally hard wood has a striking appearance resembling snake skin, with its reddish-brown hue accented by dark brown spots.

Did you know that this exotic wood, valued for its density and durability, was once used to craft violin bows?

The French name "lettre mouchetée" (spotted letter) comes from its historical use in printing. Due to its strength, it was employed to make typefaces, while the dark spots on the wood inspired the term "mouchetée."

One of the advantages of amourette wood is its resistance to warping over time. However, it does require minimal maintenance. Avoid exposing it to humidity or placing it in the dishwasher. Applying a light coat of vegetable oil to the handle will restore its original shine.

    Fun fact:
Amourette wood is so dense that it doesn’t float when submerged in water!
