More about Warthog
The warthog is not an endangered species. It is the African cousin of the wild boar. The teeth of the warthog, or rather the tusks, are highly prized for their aesthetic qualities and therefore popular in the manufacture of high-end knife handles.
Being hollow, only larger tusks can be used to make solid-handled knives. Smaller tusks tend to be used for the plates of folding knives or straight-handled knives.
The ivory of a warthog’s tusks is a beautiful pale cream colour and slightly patchy in appearance.
