Did you know that the Maltese Cross, often associated with the Knights of the Order of Malta, is also a historical symbol featured in French cutlery?

It traditionally adorns Laguiole knives, where it is finely engraved or riveted onto the handle.

According to legend, shepherds used these knives not only as practical tools but also as symbols of spiritual protection, carving the Maltese Cross themselves to invoke divine blessings during their long days in the pastures.

As for the handle material, amboyna burl, sourced from the Pterocarpus indicus tree, is a tropical wood native to Southeast Asia. With its rich shades ranging from reddish-brown to golden yellow and its intricate grain patterns, it lends a unique and elegant appearance to the objects it graces.

This wood adds a touch of natural sophistication, enhanced by its subtle and woody fragrance.
